Legendary National Ballet of Georgia "Sukhishvili" has represented, for over 80 years, the art, vitality, and inexhaustible energy of the Georgian people. The first and original Georgian national dance ensemble - The First and The Original - has become an authentic symbol of Georgia's culture and a unique artistic phenomenon worldwide. Founded in 1945 by Iliko and Nino Sukhishvili, the ensemble is now led by the third generation of the family, the grandchildren of the founders. This artistic dynasty has preserved and developed Georgian traditions, transforming "Sukhishvili" into a symbol of national art and cultural heritage. Audiences in the USA, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Sweden, the Baltic states, and many other countries have had the opportunity to discover a unique program that brings together the most spectacular moments from the entire history of the ensemble—a true expression of perfection, discipline, and supreme mastery, which has become Georgia's calling card on the world’s great stages. For eight decades, “Sukhishvili” has won the hearts of millions of spectators, performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages—from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to La Scala in Milan. The international press has described them in many ways: “the eighth wonder of the world” according to The New York Times, “a hurricane on stage” by Daily Telegraph, and “an energy that can leave the entire audience standing” by Le Figaro. All these assessments share a common denominator: “Sukhishvili” is an unparalleled phenomenon—a burst of energy, beauty, and artistic mastery. The performance program is a true demonstration of strength, emotion, and virtuosity. The male dances impress with spectacular acrobatics, breathtaking jumps, and swordplay executed at a dizzying pace, leaving the audience breathless. In contrast, the female dances fascinate with grace, elegance, and nobility. The signature of the ensemble remains the famous male dance performed on tiptoes—a unique artistic signature of “Sukhishvili”, impossible to match by other performers. Beyond the dance performance, the audience will discover a true visual splendor: costumes made from natural materials, adorned with silk embroidery, decorative stones, and metal elements. The live orchestra of the ensemble creates a special sound universe, using rare traditional instruments and old performance techniques carefully passed down from generation to generation. Over 80 years of history means recognition from millions of admirers, tens of thousands of shows, tours in over a hundred countries across five continents, and performances on stages where only the best are applauded. The National Ballet of Georgia “Sukhishvili” has inscribed its name forever in the history of world culture. “Sukhishvili” is more than a show. It is a celebration of the Georgian spirit, wherein history, pride, tradition, and extraordinary energy meet—a experience that spectators will carry in their hearts long after the performance ends.
